We board the bus bright and early and begin our journey north from Edinburgh. Your driver-guide will bring you up to speed on the history of our old and new towns from the get-go.
Then we’ll cross over the Forth Road Bridge and into the Kingdom of Fife, passing Loch Leven on the way to your first stop, Pitlochry, a Victorian resort that offers the chance to have a morning coffee and brief wander down its picturesque high street.
Then it is time to enter the Cairngorms National Park. You will be in awe of the incredible scenery the entire way to Loch Ness, where we will stop for our lunch break. You all know why it is famous, so remember to have your camera ready in case you spot Nessie from the banks! Or, take a Jacobite Cruise* for a better chance of finding the monster. Even if you don’t see Nessie, a stunning view of Urquhart Castle is guaranteed.
Next we will head to Fort William for a short stop to check out Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK.
You will be kept entertained throughout the journey by your driver-guide as he tells you exciting and sometimes rather gruesome tales from Scotland’s history. On the way to Glen Coe you’ll hear of the MacDonald Clan massacre. Our photo-stop here places you amongst tall mountain peaks and weeping waterfalls, an unforgettable part of Scotland.
As we head home through Stirling you will see the Castle and Wallace Monument and your driver guide will reveal stories about the real Braveheart! Finally, it will be hard to miss the Kelpies, a new addition to Scotland’s landscape, the largest equine sculptures in the entire world.
This truly is the biggest tour of Scotland that you can fit into in one day! It provides a great introduction to our stunning Highlands and tumultuous history.
Please note the optional boat cruise costs £13.50.
