Loch Ness (Multi-Lingual Commentary)

Glen Coe, the Great Glen, Loch Ness and Inverness

Tour description

Departing from Edinburgh.

Your Highland adventure begins as soon as you step onto our mini-coach. You will travel through then out of Edinburgh, learning of our capital’s history.

On the journey north we’ll pass the historic city of Stirling where you will be able to spot the Castle and hear of its turbulent history! You’ll also see the Wallace Monument, standing triumphant on the summit of Abbey Craig and discover the real Braveheart story via your audio-guide.

The Trossachs and Glen Coe.

We will stop in Kilmahog a pretty Scottish hamlet; it offers fantastic views of Ben Ledi, part of Trossachs hills made famous by Walter Scott’s poem Lady of the Lake.

On the way to Glen Coe you will hear about the terrible massacre of the MacDonald Clan. Then it will be time for our photo stop. Surrounded by towering mountains and weeping waterfalls you’ll be in awe of this incredible part of Scotland.

To the North of Scotland and Loch Ness.

Your journey continues along the banks of Loch Linnhe. As you continue north, you'll pass a series of beautiful Lochs and be able to enjoy more of Scotland’s stunning scenery.

At the top of the Great Glen you'll get your first sight of Loch Ness – the highlight of our tour. You'll drive along the full length of the loch, stopping at Urquhart Castle, if time permits, for an unforgettable photo opportunity. Once we stop by Loch Ness you’ll have the option to take a ‘monster-spotting’ Jacobite Cruise*. Keep your eyes peeled and cameras ready, Nessie may not be guaranteed, but another superb view of Urquhart Castle is!

Inverness and the Cairngorms.

The northernmost point of your journey is the capital of the Highlands: Inverness. You'll drive through this attractive city passing the Castle and Cathedral. Your driver-guide will then turn south and travel through the Spey Valley, allowing you to soak up the scenery on the way.

The enjoyable homeward leg of your journey will take you past the majestic peaks of the Cairngorms, on through Perthshire, and back to Scotland's capital. There will be rest stops along the way for a chance to stretch your legs, grab drinks and snap some final photographs.

Please note the optional boat cruise costs £13.50.
