2 Day Highland Adventure

Loch Ness, Inverness and the Highlands

Tour description

Day 1

Departing from Edinburgh and Glasgow, we’ll start off with an introduction to our country’s biggest cities then will begin our journey into the Scottish Highlands. Passing through Stirling you will be able to spot William Wallace’s monument and one of Scotland’s best kept castles whilst your driver-guide tells the true stories of Braveheart and the part Stirling Castle plays in our country’s tumultuous history.

We will make a coffee stop in Luss by the west shore of Loch Lomond. Here you’ll have a chance to take photographs, buy snacks and stretch your legs at the banks of the largest inland stretch of fresh water in Great Britain.

Next we will head to the smaller Loch Tulla for a photo stop, proving that not just the large Scottish lochs deserve your attention.

From here it’s not too far to Glen Coe, the ride will pass quickly as you learn of the brutal MacDonald Clan Massacre that took place in this part of our country. The dramatic mountains weep many waterfalls here, creating eerie and beautiful photographs.

Fort William will be our lunch stop.  The tallest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, dominates the landscape in this pretty highland town.

Our overnight stop will be by the shores of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus, it offers a charming retreat from the bigger Highland towns whilst still providing some great eating and drinking opportunities.

Day 2

Loch Ness dominates your morning on day two. There’s an opportunity to take a Jacobite Cruise over to Urquhart Castle, visit the Loch Ness 2000 Exhibition* or try and spot Nessie from the safety of dry land.

There will be a brief stop at the Clava Cairns pre historic cemetery then it’s on to Culloden*, where you will learn of the famous battle that took place here in 1746, that preceded the Highland Clearances.

Next we will have a more relaxing stop at a Whisky Distillery*, where you can learn of the lengthy process we go through to create the perfect dram and taste some for yourself.

Finally we will have a rest-stop at Dunkeld, a beautiful historic town with its cathedral beside the river Tay, before dropping you back to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
