Leaving Edinburgh bright and early, you’ll learn about our capital’s old and new towns as we head through to Scotland's largest city, Glasgow. Then it's on to Loch Lomond, the largest expanse of fresh water in the country. We will stop on the west bank at the conservation village of Luss, which you may recognise from the TV show Take The High Road. You’ll be able to spot some of Loch Lomond’s many islands from the shore.
Travelling past the longest loch in Scotland, aptly named, Loch Awe, there will be time for some quick photo stops at former Campbell Clan home, the Kilchurn Castle ruins, the elaborately carved Saint Conan’s Church which clings to the steep hillside and the Pass of Brander where Robert the Bruce had a notable victory.
The Scottish Highlands are rich with history, and your driver-guide will connect stories from Scotland’s past to the stunning places you’ll visit throughout the journey.
We’ll get to Oban for lunch time where you can try some delicious seafood! You’ll have time to explore this Victorian seaside town and perhaps climb up to McCaig's Tower and explore the public gardens whilst taking in the dramatic coastal scenery and views to the isles of Mull, Kerrera and Lismore.
On the way back to Edinburgh, you will visit the seat of the Campbell Clan at Inveraray, you may recognise the turreted castle from Downton Abbey! There’s a tea-room run personally by the Duchess where you can enjoy ice-cream, homemade cakes and drinks near the beauty of Loch Fyne.
